The Marianas continue to recover following Super Typhoon Sinlaku, and travel conditions may vary by island, hotel, attraction, and service provider.

The Marianas Visitors Authority provides this page as the official source for tourism-related recovery updates, offering travelers and stakeholders clear and verified information as recovery continues.

Recovery conditions across the Marianas continue to improve in some areas, while overall visitor conditions remain uneven and are not yet back to normal. Saipan continues to restore airport and tourism-related services, while Tinian and Rota are also in different stages of recovery.

At this stage, travelers should expect limited availability of some products and services and should confirm arrangements directly before departure.

MVA is encouraged by positive air service recovery signals from airline partners and market representatives. Planned service resumptions and phased route recovery discussions are being monitored for key source markets, including Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and Hong Kong.

However, specific international flight schedules remain subject to airline confirmation, airport operating status, safety and regulatory requirements, and operational readiness. Because operating conditions, room availability, and guest-facing amenities may vary by property, travelers should continue to confirm directly with their hotel, accommodation provider, tour operator, or service provider before finalizing travel plans.

MVA will continue to monitor hotel and visitor service readiness and provide updated guidance as more verified information becomes available.

RECOVERY STORIES FROM THE MARIANAS

FAR FROM ORDINARY RESILIENCE ACROSS THE MARIANAS 5/17/2026

In the wake of Super Typhoon Sinlaku, the Marianas continue to rebuild not only infrastructure, but also the spirit of our people. To help inspire hope and unity across our community, the Marianas Visitors Authority put up CNMI flags throughout the island as a symbol of resilience, pride, and recovery. The sight of the flags waving along roadways, public spaces, and between the villages serve as a reminder that the people of the Marianas remain strong despite the challenges left behind by the storm.

Residents and volunteers have expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting that even the small symbols of unity can bring comfort during these difficult times. While the road to full recovery may take some time, the message behind this initiative is clear: the spirit of the Marianas is resilient, unwavering, and truly Far From Ordinary.

MVA TEAM SUPPORTS TINIAN RECOVERY EFFORTS 5/17/2026

Just one week after Super Typhoon Sinlaku swept through the Marianas, staff from the Marianas Visitors Authority traveled from Saipan to Tinian to lend support to the island’s recovery efforts. With many areas still impacted by storm damage, the team joined the MVA Tinian Field Office staff in helping to clear debris and assess damages.

Beyond the physical work, the effort carried a deeper message of solidarity and compassion for our neighbors to the south. This recovery is not just about rebuilding structures; it is also about lifting spirits and helping our community feel supported during these difficult times. The teamwork shown between the Saipan and Tinian offices demonstrates the resilience and close connections shared across the Marianas. Even in the aftermath of destruction, the people of the islands continue to show strength, compassion, and a commitment to helping one another move forward.

MVA TEAM SUPPORTS TINIAN RECOVERY EFFORTS 5/22/2026

In the spirit of community and recovery, the Marianas Visitors Authority joined the E-Land Group in distributing essential supplies to families and residents affected by Typhoon Sinlaku.

From food and water to everyday necessities, the effort reflected the strength of the Marianas community coming together to support one another during recovery. MVA staff worked alongside staff of the E-Land group of companies (Kensington Hotel Saipan, PIC Saipan, and Coral Ocean Resort Saipan), the Department of Public Safety, and the Department of Corrections to help ensure supplies reached those in need, while offering encouragement and support to families across the islands.

As recovery efforts continue, the Marianas community remains united through compassion, resilience, and service. The MVA team is proud to stand beside local organizations and residents helping our islands move forward together.

RECOVERY STORIES FROM THE MARIANAS 5/29/2026

In the wake of Typhoon Sinlaku, when uprooted trees, scattered debris, and damage public gathering spaces became a part of Saipan’s landscape, one local artist decided he couldn’t simply wait for someone else to act.

For Jordan Paradise, music has always been a way to connect with people. But in the difficult days following the storm, he found another way to bring the community together.

Without an organized schedule, a formal team, or even a set destination, Jordan simply drove around the island searching for places that needed attention. From Micro Beach to the softball field at Dandan Middle School and even the tourist sites up north, wherever he saw storm debris, he stepped in to help. Armed with gloves, trash bags, and a determination to give back to the island he calls home, he began restoring one site at a time.

Jordan began sharing videos of the cleanups on social media; not for recognition, but simply to encourage others to care for the island they call home. It wasn’t long before people started to reach out, asking where the next cleanup would be or offering supplies and support. What started as a one-man effort quickly grew into a community movement, with volunteers giving their time and energy to help clean up Saipan.

In a time when the island is still rebuilding, Jordan’s quiet consistency has struck a chord across the Marianas. His efforts reflect a spirit that has long defined our local community – resilience, generosity, and the willingness to step up for one another when it matters most. Typhoon Sinlaku may have left behind a damaged Marianas, but through people like Jordan, it has revealed the far from ordinary spirit that can rise stronger still.

RECOVERY STORIES FROM THE MARIANAS 6/5/2026

The Marianas Visitors Authority has begun clearing the access road leading to the Bird Island hiking trail, taking another important step toward restoring safe access to one Saipan’s most popular natural attractions.

Using chainsaws and other equipment, MVA personnel removed numerous fallen trees and debris that have blocked the roadway since the onslaught of Typhoon Sinlaku. The work has significantly improved conditions along the access road, although the project is not yet complete.

The MVA team, along with some volunteers from the local hiking community will continue clearing remaining obstructions in the coming weeks to ensure locals and visitors can safely reach and enjoy the Bird Island trail once again. The MVA also plans to extend similar cleanup and restoration efforts to other trails and outdoor sites across the islands soon, helping to improve accessibility and enhance the visitor experience throughout our destination. The ongoing effort reflects MVA’s commitment to maintaining visitor access to the islands’ outdoor recreation areas and scenic destinations.

MVA appreciates the public’s patience as the team continue their work and encourages everyone to exercise caution around trails that remain unsafe.

RECOVERY STORIES FROM THE MARIANAS 6/12/2026

The Marianas Visitors Authority partnered with the Mariana Islands Nature Alliance and community volunteers to clean up the Paseo de Marianas area in Garapan in preparation for the return of visitors to Saipan.

The cleanup effort focused on improving the appearance of one of core tourist district ahead of the arrival of travelers on Jeju Air flights scheduled to resume service to Saipan on June 20. Volunteers worked together to remove litter and enhance the visitor experience, helping ensure the destination is ready to welcome guests.

The Marianas Visitors Authority expressed its appreciation to everyone who dedicated their time and effort to the community project. MVA thanked all volunteers and partners for their commitment to keeping Saipan beautiful and creating a positive first impression for returning visitors.
