42nd Annual Guam to Rota Race
May 24 - May 27
The Marianas Yacht Club hosts its Annual Guam – Rota Race over Memorial Day Weekend every year….
The event, originating in 1970 as the club’s first international Race, begins at Marianas Yacht Club in Apra Harbor. Sailboats depart Apra Harbor at 5pm to make the 55 mile harbor-to-harbor journey, arriving at West Harbor Rota from early morning to early afternoon dependent upon winds, seas, and boat speed.
This years event brings 9-10 yachts, a comparable fleet to the original 1970 race. Prior years have included boats ranging from 16′ beach catamarans to 55′ racing yachts. In the recent years, sailors from the island of Saipan have sailed to Guam to compete each year.
Race participants enjoy the beautiful island of Rota, taking in popular local attractions such as Swimming Hole, Bird Sanctuary, Diving, Golf, Hiking, and Touring.
