The Northern Mariana Islands have become a veritable cosmopolitan community. Recent census information reveals that there are about 18,000 indigenous Chamorro and Carolinian Americans. Out of the 30,000 or so remaining there are large numbers of Filipinos, Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, other Micronesians and mainland Americans. There are also a smattering of other nationalities from Southeast Asia, Europe and Latin America.
